Paul Parillaud was born in Paris, France, in 1996 and at the age of eleven he moved to Italy with his family. Thanks to his father, he developed a strong interest in photography from an early age. During his five years of art studies (with a specialization in architecture) he get impressed by the work of war photographers which prompted him to study Law at the University of Udine in Italy. His thesis in philosophy of law was on International criminal justice. After his studies, he did one year of civil service in Normandie, France, with the International Institute for Human Rights and Peace.

Back in Italy, Paul collaborated with several newspapers of the Slovenian minority in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. 
In the meantime, he realised a long-term photographic reportage on Mersino, a village located in the Natisone Valleys, on the border with Slovenia, to tell the story of its inhabitants' will to keep the community alive, with its traditions, in the face of the depopulation of the mountains. With this project, Paul was nominated best author of the collective book "PixAround FVG 2022", promoted by the Trieste-based associations dotArt and Exhibit Around APS. In October 2022, his solo exhibition 'Mersino' was organised in Trieste as part of the Trieste Photo Days.

Paul Parillaud è nato a Parigi, Francia, nel 1996 e all'età di undici anni si è trasferito in Italia con la sua famiglia. Grazie a suo padre, ha sviluppato un forte interesse per la fotografia fin dalla tenera età. Nel corso dei suoi cinque anni di studi artistici (con una specializzazione in architettura) rimase impressionato dal lavoro dei fotografi di guerra che lo spinse a studiare Giurisprudenza all'Università degli Studi di Udine. La sua tesi in filosofia del diritto verteva sulla Giustizia penale internazionale. Finiti gli studi, ha svolto un anno di servizio civile in Normandia, Francia, con l'Istituto internazionale dei diritti umani e della pace.

Tornato in Italia, Paul ha collaborato con alcuni giornali della minoranza slovena in Friuli-Venezia Giulia. 

Nel frattempo, ha realizzato un reportage fotografico di lungo termine su Mersino, un villaggio situato nelle Valli del Natisone, al confine con la Slovenia, per raccontare la volontà dei suoi abitanti di mantenere viva la comunità, con le sue tradizioni, di fronte allo spopolamento della montagna. Con questo progetto, Paul è stato nominato miglior autore del libro collettivo "PixAround FVG 2022", promosso dalle associazioni triestine dotArt e Exhibit Around APS. Nell'ottobre 2022, nell'ambito del Trieste Photo Days, è stata organizzata a Trieste la sua personale "Mersino".

Paul Parillaud est né à Paris, France, en 1996. Il s'est installé en Italie à l'âge de onze ans avec sa famille. Grâce à son père, il a développé dès son plus jeune âge un fort intérêt pour la photographie. Pendant ses cinq années d'études d'art (avec une spécialisation en architecture), il a été impressionné par le travail des photographes de guerre, ce qui l'a poussé à étudier le Droit à l'Université d'Udine, en Italie. Sa thèse en philosophie du droit portait sur la justice pénale internationale. Après ses études, il a effectué un an de service civique en Normandie, France, auprès de l'Institut international des droits de l'Homme et de la paix.

De retour en Italie, Paul a collaboré avec plusieurs journaux de la minorité slovène de la région Friuli-Venezia Giulia. 
Entre-temps, il a réalisé un reportage photographique de longue durée sur Mersino, un village situé dans les vallées de Natisone, à la frontière avec la Slovénie, pour raconter la volonté de ses habitants de maintenir la communauté en vie, avec ses traditions, face au dépeuplement des montagnes. Avec ce projet, Paul a été nommé meilleur auteur du livre collectif "PixAround FVG 2022", promu par les associations dotArt et Exhibit Around APS de Trieste. En octobre 2022, son exposition personnelle "Mersino" a été organisée à Trieste dans le cadre du Trieste Photo Days.
